Multi-nutrient blocks to be made available at affordable rates to the livestock farmers, says Khudian
Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh, November 25-
In a unique initiative, the Punjab Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Department is all set to start a Uromin Lick (Pashu Chaat) plant at Rauni village in the Patiala district.
Disclosing this here today, Punjab cabinet minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian stated that Uromin Lick (UML) or Urea-Molasses Multi-nutrient Blocks (UMMB) are multi-nutrient blocks that combine energy, protein and minerals, serving as a crucial feed supplement and lifesaver. These mineral-rich blocks help improve the overall body condition of animals, stimulate the cycling of anestrous animals and enhance conception rates.
A storage unit for Uromin Lick blocks will be established in Kapurthala district, Khudian said while adding that these Uromin Lick blocks will be made available to farmers through the Civil Veterinary Hospitals and Dispensaries across the state. The Uromin Lick blocks will be made available at the affordable rates to the marginal livestock farmers.
He said that this technology is a convenient and cost-effective way to provide a range of nutrients to animals by improving the digestion of low-quality roughages.
